Overview

Feast ("Feast", "we", "us") helps you capture recipes, build shopping and pantry lists, and get AI-assisted cooking ideas. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Feast you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in, we receive your email address and a unique account identifier from our authentication provider (Firebase Authentication). We use this to identify your account and secure access to your data.

Content you provide. Recipe URLs, pasted text, photos or screenshots you submit for recipe extraction, and any notes, ingredients, or steps you save or edit.

Lists and planning data. Shopping lists, pantry items, saved recipes, meal events, and any lists or recipes you choose to share with other users.

Purchase information. If you subscribe to Feast Premium, the App Store or Google Play sends us a purchase receipt/token that we verify with Apple or Google to confirm and activate your subscription. We do not receive or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple or Google.

Technical and usage data. Basic device and client logs (such as app version, error reports, and request metadata) that help us diagnose problems and keep the service reliable.

How we use your information

• To provide core features: extracting recipes, generating shopping lists, syncing your data across devices, and enabling sharing with people you choose.
• To generate AI-assisted results — such as structuring a recipe from a link or photo, suggesting substitutions, or answering cooking questions — your recipe content and prompts are sent to our AI processing providers solely to produce that response.
• To verify and manage Premium subscriptions.
• To maintain, secure, and improve the service, including diagnosing bugs and preventing abuse.
• To communicate with you about your account or respond to support requests.

AI processing

When you ask Feast to extract a recipe, suggest ideas, or answer a cooking question, the relevant text or image is sent to a third-party AI provider (such as OpenAI or AWS Bedrock) to generate the response. We only send what's needed to fulfil that specific request. These providers process the content on our behalf and do not use it to train their models under our agreements with them.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:

• With people you explicitly invite to a shared list, pantry, or recipe collection — they will see the content of what's shared.
• With service providers who process data on our behalf, including Firebase (authentication), Amazon Web Services (hosting and storage), OpenAI and AWS Bedrock (AI processing), and Apple/Google (purchase verification).
• If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of Feast, our users, or the public.

Data storage and retention

Your data is stored on AWS infrastructure. We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Your choices

• You can edit or delete your recipes, lists, and pantry items at any time within the app.
• You can stop sharing a list or recipe, or remove a person from a shared list, at any time.
• You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at foodandwinesocial@gmail.com.

Children's privacy

Feast is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
